Sign It With Your Signature Color – Tips On Finding The Color That Says You

Everyone has that one color they favor. Whether it is your preferred color that has been your favorite since you were little or just a color that looks fabulous with your hair color and skin tone, consider creating this shade your signature. Whatever the color, make sure that it looks well with your skin tone, eye color, and hair color before you make the decision to call this particular hue your signature color. No one wants a signature color you are unable to wear due to it clashing with your natural appearance. Also, know when you limit using your signature color, because it can quickly turn from clever and classy to quirky and tacky. It is not necessary for you to dress head to toe in your signature color. Instead, consider using your signature color in the following ways:

Creating your signature

Once you have determined what color will be used as your signature, work to incorporate this color into your wardrobe. Again, not everything in your closet needs to be of your specific signature hue. Consider using this color as an accent to the neutral tones that should dominate your closet, including black, white, ivory, brown, gray, and navy. Use your signature color in unique pops in all aspect of your wardrobe and your surroundings.

Use your signature color in your home to express your real self

In addition to using your signature color to accentuate your wardrobe, also use this favored color to accentuate you home. Whether you paint an accent wall in this great hue, choose a rug with your favorite color, use decorator pillows in your shade of choice, or incorporate towels of this color into your design, your signature color can work in your home the same way it can work in your wardrobe.

Accentuate with accessories – Accessorizing with personal flair

Consider using your signature color in a few poignant accessories incorporated into your wardrobe. Consider purchasing a brooch or faux flower corsage in your favorite shade to affix to your jacket lapel, sweater, or shirt. Look into purchasing a fantastic pair of shoes in your signature color as a unique pop that will benefit any wardrobe. Look to include a killer purse in your favorite hue that is sure to complement any item in your closet. Furthermore, use a scarf with your signature color or choose to incorporate a pretty ribbon into your hairstyle, serve as a belt, or even be used as a choker!

Shopping For The Right Bra Size

Shopping for a bra can be a long and painful task for many women. There are many bras to chose from and many women don’t know which style, and more importantly size, is right for them.

When shopping for a bra, finding the right size is vital; it is estimated that about 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. To make sure the bra you are buying is the correct size, watch for the following signs.

You should measure the width of your chest just below your breasts (on your ribs) before buying a bra. Take this number and add five inches to it. This will tell you what band size you should be trying on. For example, if you measure 31 inches around, you should be trying on a 36 sized bras. If you’re number ends up being odd, go to the next size up. If you are “plus sized”, you don’t have to add these five inches.

To find your correct cup size, have someone measure around the fullest part of your breasts. You should not wear a padded bra while doing this. Then take this number and subtract it from your rib measurement. This will tell you your cup size.

Negative difference – AA

1 inch – A
2 inch – B
3 inch – C
4 inch – D
5 inch – DD or E
6 inch – DDD or F
7 inch – DDDD or G

If your bra fits correctly, it should be snug around the middle, but still be able to fit one or two fingers under the band comfortably. If you can’t do this, the bra is too tight. If the band comes away from your body very easily or the band rides up your back, the bra is too big. If you are wearing an under wire bra, the wire should lay flat across your chest. Whereas if you are wearing a bra with no under wire, it should separate your breasts so it doesn’t look like you have one big boob. You should also look for the tightness of the bra on the breast. The breast should fill the cup perfectly. If your breast is lower than the cup, the cup is too big, but on the other hand, you don’t want to be spilling out of the cup either. If your breasts are popping out on the sides, top or bottom, the bra is too small. If the band feels fine, just go up a cup size. When shopping for a bra, try raising your arms over your head- the bra should stay in place and not lift off of your chest. If it does this, its too big.

If you follow these tips, your next shopping trip for bras should be more enjoyable. Try on all different styles of bras to see which kind suits you best. Also, never rush while shopping for bras. Pay attention to how they look and feel to make sure you buy the perfect fit.

Shape Great Looking Eyebrows With Tweezers

Tweezing is the most inexpensive way to remove unwanted hair. A pair of Tweezers will cost between two to five dollars, but the effect of a well shaped eyebrow through tweezing can be very astounding. Your eyebrow’s shape should go along with your brow bone’s natural line. The arch should come out to be the highest at the pupil’s outer corner. To know exactly where the brow should start, align a pencil straight up from the inner corner of the eye. To know where it exactly should it end, a pencil, held diagonally from the outer corner of the eye to the brow bone can help. The very first time you pluck your eyebrows, it could be painful. But after two or three sessions, you feel almost nothing. Eyebrows shape should have an arch. Ideally, it should be over the iris of the eye. Be careful not to overdo it; it should come out natural and conforms with your eye.

1. How To Pluck Eyebrows:

– Look and study your brows in the mirror.
– Pluck when your pores are open. Do your eyebrows immediately after a shower, or apply warm compress to your brow area to open up the pores. This will help in minimizing the pain that plucking can create.
– Apply a baby’s teething pain preparation. If you are plucking your eyebrows for the first time, it will be helpful to apply a baby’s teething gel, to numb the are so you can pluck with comfort.
– Be certain that there is enough natural light available in the room.
– Use a pair of tweezers that you can handle easily. Test that it can grip the hairs well, so it can pull the hair from the roots well, without slipping every time you pluck.
– Soften the hairs with a skin conditioner or moisturizer, so hairs can slide out easily.
– Brush the brows upward so you can see your natural arch and shape your brows from there.
– From time to time, stand back, take a few steps away from the mirror and examine your brows.
– Be conscious always of your eye’s natural shape. Don’t make a super arch if that is not naturally you. It will be very obvious and will give you a funny look. Make the arch as natural as possible.
– With an eye pencil, draw first the desired shape of your eyebrows before you start plucking.
– Focus your plucking on the stray hairs first. These are usually finer and will not be as painful to pluck. Also, they won’t give as much attention, in case you make a mistake.
– Note that you should only pluck the hairs at the bottom side of your brow. Never pluck the hairs at the top.
– First tweeze under the brow and pluck in the direction of the growth of the hair.
– Be sure to pull hair one at a time and close to the root.
– With your thumb and first finger, stretch the skin area tightly so you avoid pinching the skin, which can be painful.
– Comb the brows upward, using your eyelash comb, and trim off any hair extending beyond the brow bone.
– When finished, pat with tea bags to soothe the area.

2. Don’ts Of Eyebrow Plucking!

– Don’t pluck after you have applied lotion to your face. Plucking will open up your pores; lotion may instantly go in the skin and can contaminate it.
– Don’t use electric tweezers. It can be very dangerous.
– Don’t use tweezers for pulling out nose hairs.
– Don’t use alcohol after plucking, as this can irritate the eyes.
– Don’t dye your eyebrows, not only that it can cause severe eye irritation, it could also look bad.
– Don’t soak your tweezers in detergents or in plain water.

3. Tweezer Care:

– Always disinfect it with alcohol before and after each use.
– Always place a cap to protect the tips of your tweezers.
– Be careful not to drop the tweezers as this can dull and miss align the tip.

4. Choosing Tweezers:

When just starting, it will be wise to buy at least four tweezers of different materials, such as stainless steel, copper or plastic coated, so that you will know which ones will quickly tarnish. Stainless steel also do come in different grades. Note that the price of the tweezers does not affect its quality. Both expensive and affordable ones, performance wise, may have the same grip and the same tip that can function well. However, those with high quality materials will cost more, such as a high grade stainless steel. Pay attention to the tip of the tweezers; it should have a wide surface so that it can grip well. Test it to make sure it does the job. Whatever size of tweezers you choose, long, short, wide or narrow, it really depends on your own preference, on which tweezers you can handle best.

Sewing Machines: Making A Comeback?

While we don’t have to rely on sewing machines to satisfy our basic clothing needs, more and more people today turn to sewing to create unique, luxurious, one-of-a-kind pieces. Every family has that hand embroidered grandmother’s table cloth or a hand-made quilt, and these pieces are as cherished as the most sophisticated haute couture creations. And instead of paying hefty sums to someone for creating these little pieces of luxury for you, you can develop the easy skills of making your own monograms, embroideries or even hand-sewn button-holes – all the little luxuries that make the difference.

With the help of a reliable sewing machine, you can instantly personalize a lot of everyday necessities. For example, you can create a set of unique napkins or add a classy touch to your bed linen and bath towels with a monogram. And with a little practice you can even alter and mend your clothes.

When choosing your first sewing machine, make sure you understand how much sewing you plan to do. The honest answer will save you money and time, as you will not pick a too complex and upscale sewing machine for your basic sewing needs.

If you plan to study sewing and even recreate expensive designer clothes to save money, you will need a more upscale sewing machine. Sewing your own clothes makes sense only if your sewing skills are high enough to recreate high-end clothes, such as suits, jackets and dresses. You won’t save money on sewing your own jeans, because the pattern, fabric, buttons, and the time spent will make this pair of jeans more expensive than any of the designer creations. However, sewing children’s clothes does make sense, because you need little fabric, and you don’t really need complicated patterns.

A sewing machine is a great investment for those who have a passion for clothes design and like to wear one-of-a-kind pieces and don’t want to limit their clothing choices to what they see in department stores. With a sewing machine and a little patience you have full control on where the pockets go, what kind of buttons you use, and where the hemline stops. You should be aware that creating clothes from scratch or even amending the existing pattern requires sewing skills and a lot of time and devotion.

A more practical use for sewing machines is mending and altering the clothes you already have. We all have that special pair of trousers or jeans that we love and hate to throw them out. Sewing machines also work great for those who like personalizing item with monograms and embroideries.

Sewing for your home is quite labor-consuming; drapes and upholstery require lots of fabric and professional-grade equipment for precise sewing notions, such as rivets and hooks. Still, you can create simple drapes and even roman blinds on your basic sewing machine. Don’t forget about quilting that once fuelled the sewing machine craze. It seems like patchwork is coming back, and many fashion designers even use elements in their collections.

Sewing machines are indispensable for crafts, which are a great way to relax and unwind after a busy day. Studies have shown that sewing reduces stress! When sewing something, no matter for what purposes, people achieve something that gives them a lasting satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Besides, hand-made simple purses, gift bags for wine bottles, tablecloths and napkins make wonderful and thoughtful gifts.

And who knows, maybe after you discover the joys of sewing, you will decide to move forward and open a small sewing business to create and sew unique pieces of clothing. Many upscale boutiques and fashion fairs feature such mini-collections often sewn on simple household sewing machines.

Setting The Perfect Mood For A Romance Story

Reading a good romance novel is like setting sail on a grand adventure. You have no idea where it is going to take you or who you might meet on the way but you do know that it is going to be a great ride. But like any trip, you don’t want to set sail without being prepared. That is why you have to create the perfect mood before snuggling up on the couch with your book and nice cup of tea (or whatever works for you!) at your side.

A romance novel, just like its name implies, is supposed to be romantic. Romance, however, is not something that you can just drive-up to a window and hand a cashier some money and then drive off with your goods. It must be finessed and created with a soft touch or else the moment is cheapened and all you end up with is some freaky background music and some psychedelic light show.

Lighting is always a sure way to set the perfect mood. Now my personal favorite lighting happens to be that from the fireplace. There is absolutely nothing more romantic than a crackling fire late at night to help set the perfect mood for your adventure to… well, wherever. Of course, this idea doesn’t work so well in the summer months and not everyone has a fireplace so you will need to have some alternatives.

Candles, especially scented ones (I personally could die with the scent of lavender or hyacinth wafting through the air and enter heaven with a great big smile on my face!), create the perfect romantic atmosphere. The combination of the sweet aroma and subtle lighting transform your room into a romantic alcove that cannot help but enhance your reading experience.

Now if you are not into flames of any kind but would still like to set a more subdued and casual tone to your decor while escaping to your own personal paradise with Juan, Raphael, or whomever happens to be the character in the book, then you might want to try using a nice Tiffany lamp reproduction. Now I promise all of you that I do not own stock in any company selling these lamps. It is just that the light is gently diffused through the colorful lampshade so there is no glare. These lamps happen to produce very soft light that is still adequate for reading without worrying about eye strain.

Finally, once you have the lighting perfect and your favorite scent filling the room, all that is left is some soft music in the background. Some soft jazz (or whatever you happen to find especially romantic) completes the effect and you are set to cast off and have whatever adventure the author has in store for you. I would recommend playing some music without lyrics as they can be more of distraction than a mood setter.

Now you may even want to get into some “jammie pants” and don your favorite sweatshirt too but that is entirely up to you. All that really matters is that you feel comfortable and the room is soothing and to your liking. Reading around other people or with a radio or television in the background filling the room with words can absolutely ruin a book because you can’t really concentrate and get into the story.

Trust me, your reading experience will be completely different and far more enjoyable when the setting is just right. Ask yourself what you happen to find romantic and turn your reading space into your own little paradise and you will definitely enhance your reading experience and slip away into those pages and off to the adventure you have been waiting all day to get started!

Secrets Of Happy Moms

Have you ever noticed how some Moms seem to be very contented and confident in their role as Mothers, and others seem chronically stressed and approaching burnout? Why are some Moms unflappable and able to keep their sense of humor, while others overreact to the slightest stressors in their day?

I’m currently observing and interviewing these happy Moms as I conduct research for an upcoming book. While all Moms are different, these women usually have several of the following traits in common.

1) They keep it simple.
I know one Mom who grocery shops every two weeks and buys the exact same thing every time to prepare the same menu of 14 dinners. Why does she do this? She’s picked the family’s favorite meals for her menu to save herself time and arguments at the dinner table. Anyone with kids knows they like to eat the same things over and over! This Mom has decided not to reinvent the wheel twice a month. This is just one example of keeping it simple.

2) They teach their kids to be independent.
This doesn’t mean they leave them to their own devices all day. But a smart Mom knows that a 2 year old can put a dish in the dishwasher, a 4 year old can prepare his own peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and a 7 year old can sweep a floor (albeit imperfectly!). Call it “outsourcing” for Moms.

3) They drop the SuperMom complex.
Not sweating the small stuff seems to be a common trait of happy Moms. They learn to pick their battles. Getting buckled into a car seat? Not negotiable. Pink paisley pants with the orange plaid shirt? Fashion creativity.

Happy Moms also realize that being an awesome Mom doesn’t mean being a perfect Mom. ‘Nuff said.

4) They can often be overheard repeating the phrase “This too shall pass”.
It doesn’t mean that bothersome behavior in kids should be overlooked, for discipline is a huge time saver in the end. It means that Moms realize that children are…well, uncivilized creatures, and that much uncivilized behavior will simply go away on its own as the child matures. Smart Moms are also keenly aware of their child’s development and don’t expect more of them than they are able to give.

5) Smart Moms take care of themselves.
They don’t blame the baby for their extra weight when the baby in question is potty trained! They put emphasis on good nutrition, avoiding too much by way of stimulants (caffeine, sugar), they get adequate rest, and daily exercise. They realize that you can’t pour from an empty bucket.

6) They live in the moment.
Happy Moms realize that the days are long but the years short. It’s not that they are impervious to stress, it’s that they have learned to lower their expectations and be in the moment when things get difficult. When your toddler is puking all over the house, this is not the time to reorganize the hall closet. A sick day then turns into a time to create sweet memories of hours spent reading and cuddling on the couch.

7) They don’t worry about what others think.
Whether it’s the disapproving glare from the old lady in the checkout line, the Mother in law who is convinced you’re starving the baby by breastfeeding, or the Pediatrician whose medical advice strays into parenting advice, happy Moms learn not to give too much weight to the opinions of those who don’t live in their home.

8) In other words, they trust their instincts.
Whether it’s taking the baby to bed with them so they can get more sleep or taking a bullied child out of public school, smart Moms know that they are the expert of their own babies.

9) Happy Moms have “something else”
It may be a part time home based business or a hobby like belly dancing. These Moms know that some day their babies will fly the coop, and they make sure they have a passion that will give them purpose when that happens.

Some Facts About Wild Yam Cream And Progesterone

Wild Yam Cream has be advertised as a treatment for menopause, hot flashes, night sweats, PMS, migraine headaches, mood swings, fertility, larger breasts, heart disease, and osteoporosis. The people who sell these products claim they contain “natural hormones” and “hormone like compounds.” To many people, suffering from these conditions, this seems like the perfect “medicine” to help them. In most cases these creams are not effective because the product advertised does not contain the hormone claimed. The fact is, there is no progesterone in the wild yams, nor can your body make progesterone from the hormone like compound, diosgenin, in the wild yam. So, why is there such confusion about this?

The reason this misinformation exists is because a few decades ago, wild yams were harvested and purified to produce the intermediate chemical, diosgenin, for progesterone and other hormone production in the lab. An intermediate means that this component of wild yams was reacted with other chemicals, in a laboratory, to make progesterone. People not familiar with this process thought that these wild yams actually contained progesterone. This belief is still persistent today and many unscrupulous business people sell products made from “wild yams” and claim that they can cure or relieve the symptoms of many diseases and medical conditions.

As for natural sources of progesterone, that is a misnomer. Today 99.9% of progesterone is made in a laboratory. However, the synthesised version of natural progesterone is identical to naturally occurring progesterone and is referred to as bio-identical progesterone. The term “synthetic progesterone” is often used to refer to products such as Provera®, Cycrin® which are not identical to progesterone. These synthetic versions have additional chemical groups added to the progesterone molecule, for a number of reasons. These reasons include improved absorption (oral dosage forms) and making the molecule patentable. Today, most bio-identical progesterone is made from soya intermediates.

There is plenty of literature discussing the benefits of hormone replacement therapy, however, many people often confuse “natural and synthetic” as “good and bad.” The fact is that bio-identical hormones are available from your doctor, if you specify and state you would prefer to use natural hormones. Just because the progesterone is synthesised in a laboratory does not mean it is synthetic or “bad.” The fact is, the natural form of progesterone, unlike the component diosgenin, which is not found in the human body, is better for you, even though it is made in a lab. It could be more dangerous to use a hormone like substance, like diosgenin, that could be harmful to your health.

It is often claimed that natural progesterone has no side effects, however, it is a hormone, and does have a number of side effects that you should be aware of, these include:

a feeling of euphoria (based on the amounts used)
breast tenderness
possible acne upon initial use as body adjusts
possible acne upon initial use as body adjusts
possible suspension of ovulation if used prior to ovulation
possible spotting in women just starting menopause
alteration of cycle time
may prevent sperm maturation in men when used in excess
hives, skin rash, itching
increased sensitivity to sunlight
nausea and headaches

It is always a persons choice as to whether they want hormone replacement therapy or not, but to make that decision on unfounded product information is dangerous and could adversely affect your health. Your doctor can prescribe natural (bio-identical) progesterone if you are not comfortable with the synthetic versions like Provera® and Cycrin®. There are many options for hormone replacement therapy, but make sure you know the facts and avoid wasting your money on products that don’t work, or could be harmful.
